    Alien Busters

Since its inception, Kloof Conservancy has been actively involved in combating Invasive Alien Plants (IAPs).

The conservancy has been at the forefront of educating the public on the dangers to our biodiversity caused by IAPs. Over the years numerous projects have been run including signage on main thoroughfares, substantive donations to Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife to assist in keeping Krantzkloof Nature Reserve free of IAPs , training of gardeners to identify and eradicate IAPs, support for Neighbourhood Environmental Precincts where residents are encouraged to work together to eradicate IAPs and the clearing of environmentally sensitive areas such as the Msinsi CCA property and Memorial Park.

While intensive efforts have been made on the awareness and eradication of IAPs, the conservancy has also worked hard to encourage a move towards indigenous gardening through the well supported annual Indigenous Open Gardens Show.

There are a number of substantive initiatives currently underway – follow the links on the menu to see all the numerous activities currently in progress.
