This initiative was started several years ago and has been a great success. The Department of Transport concluded an agreement which allows Kloof Conservancy the right to sell advertising to sponsors along the M13 Highway. With these funds, the conservancy employs a contractor to remove alien vegetation, clear litter and cut the grass on the verges to the required specifications on a regular basis.
Kloof Conservancy has planted over 600 trees and shrubs to accelerate the rehabilitation of the road reserve. Extensive landscaping at several off-ramps has also been carried out, in one instance with the assistance of a very generous anonymous donor.
The success of the project was such that other conservancies entered into similar agreements for other sections of the M13 thus extending the impact of the project.
In 2005, KZN Ezemvelo Wildlife awarded Kloof Conservancy a trophy for the best corporate project of that year.
