Title: Where have all the birdies gone ?… an unexpected biological cascade.

Bio: Prof Anthony ‘Ticky’ Forbes studied at Rhodes University and received his PhD. in Zoology In 1974 before moving up to KZN to take up a lecture post in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Natal, Durban (now UKZN), where he lectured and conducted research for 31 years. He has specialised in coastal aquatic and estuarine science and through his career has worked in KZN’s estuaries since the early 1970s as well as working in the UK and Australia. He is now the lead scientist at MER and still holds an honorary position with the University. In this role he has been part of assessments of estuary health, harbour developments and water allocations as well as diverse issues such as specialist input into legal cases.
